This package is intended for those individuals who work in a role, where there is a likelihood of being required to record events in a manner which is fit to present as evidence. On the face of it, it may seem a straight forward process of writing down what you see, right? Wrong! There are many pitfalls to a poorly recorded witness statement, not least the potential for your vital evidence to come under severe scrutiny or worse, become inadmissible in Court.
We will enhance your observation skills, report writing methods and equip you with the skills you need to confidently record and present to a Court of Law as a credible witness.
2 days training room based delivery.
The presentation can be delivered at our training rooms or at your premises by one of our Crime and Investigation experts. All the consultants at Millbank Solutions are highly experienced operators who have learned to train, not trainers who have learned the subject matter! We believe this is important given the gravity of the package content. However, we promise an engaging delivery which will promote discussion of ideas amongst attendees.
This workshop is designed to promote an understanding of the following:
- Understanding of what a witness statement is
- Content of a good statement
- Case law around identification
- Importance of accurate note taking
- Including property and exhibits in a statement
- Presentation of evidence at Court
At the conclusion of this course, the learner will be confident in recording information of a criminal offence or other incident. They will have knowledge of case law surrounding issues within a statement of witness and be confident in presenting that evidence to a Court of law or Tribunal.
